1911 Flight - vintage aviation magazine

Flight vintage aviation magazine December 16th, 1911

This is a VERY RARE original issue of "FLIGHT" magazine that was published weekly in London. It is the December 16th, 1911 issue. It is marked "No. 155. (No. 50, Vol III)". It's original selling price was "one penny". Many cool period photographs and articles. Among the articles are "A Study of Bird Flight" and "Principles of Flight". One interesting blurb from the "Foreign Aviation News" is as follows:

"By cable we learn from New York that the judges in the Federal Courts have decided against the Wright Brothers in the suit for infringement brought by them against Mr. Claude Grahame-White, in respect of the Henry Farman and Bleriot machines used by him in various competitions in America. A later cable states that Graham-White has been restrained by Judge Hand from flying in the United States without permission of the Wrights."

The magazine is all in one piece, has all of its pages all attached with the original staples. There are 34 printed pages including the covers. None of the pages are torn or missing. The two staples are showing some rust as a testament to it's old age. The edges of the pages are not worn, but are showing slight signs of yellowing. As you can see from one of the photographs there is a picture of a Bristol monoplane flying over Stonehenge. Interesting to note in this photo is two of the huge stones are being propped-up with timbers.
