Listed as "1915 RPPC AMAZING AERIAL VIEW STONEHENGE STONES & RING" on eBay, the sellers guess of 1915 is off by 10 to 20 years. One may ask, how can you tell? Lets look at several clues.
First we look at the back of the card. Stamp Boxes provide the first clue. A quick reference to http://www.playle.com/realphoto shows that the K Ltd. stampbox on back was used between 1918-1936.
More importantly to a Stonehenge collector this photo shows restoration work that that took place in the early and mid 1920's clearly complete. Because the construction scars have healed nicely in this photo, I expect this photo was taken in the early to mid 1930s
The third clue is the visitor entrance and foot path to the circle was still located next to the Sun-stone. and the old Hut clearly visible in this photo. The visitors entrance was latter moved over by the fence line, just off the left hand side of this photo, to improve traffic management, amongst other reasons. Had the old Hut not been in this view, I might have guessed it was a newer photo printed on old photographic stock.
In summery, a knowledgeable quick inspection revels an aerial photo of Stonehenge after the wooden props were removed in the early 20's when numerous stones were straighten and reset in their holes, yet still old enough show the old entrance hut.
