Breaking from my eBay tradition, I ordered this copy of The Bluestone Enigma Stonehenge, Preseli and the Ice Age by Brian John on Amazon.com
I first became aware of Brian John as Bluestone4 on twitter and
Stonehenge Thoughts on blogspot. The Bluestone Enigma his current book on the subject was published in 2008 by Greencroft Books ISBN 987-0-905559-89-6.
The back reads: This is the first book ever to focus on the mysterious bluestones of Stonehenge, which originated in Wales and which have - for exactly one hundred years - been the cause of heated debate. Where did they come from, and how did they get to Stonehenge? In the course of a meticulous and provocative examination of evidence from many fields, author Brion John weighs up the conflicting answers to the key questions which have puzzled generations of archaeologists and geologists alike. This is a detective story with a difference, told in an easy and acceptable manner. The author takes nothing on trust. He argues that most of the fondly-held beliefs about bluestones are sentimental, unscientific and unnecessary, and supports his case with spectacular and previously unpublished research discoveries.
