Stonehenge Eclipse Connections

There is little question that solar and lunar observation had a serious influence on the design and construction of Stonehenge. Included in this gallery are several eclipse related items with strong Stonehenge connections.

Please note that clicking on the link in a picture's title or description will take you to that items album, often with additional text and pictures.

Some of you have found their way here via an EclipseTracker link. The EclipseTracker program was inspired by a conversation regarding Eclipses over Stonehenge with my old friend and noted EclipseChaser Bill Kramer , who pointed me to the Eclipse Prediction data by Fred Espenak and Chris O'Byrne (NASA's GSFC covering a 5000 year period from -1999 to 3000). The EclipseTracker program harvested a filtered subset of eclipse events, localized to Stonehenge, from the NASA website.

Until Twitter changed their API, EclipseTracker generated Tweets about significant solar and lunar events viewable from Stonehenge and posts them at the date and time of their anniversary.
