It is very rare to acquire a Stonehenge Collectible from the every day side of my life. It is frightening to think of how close this one came to being put-out with the stack of other after Christmas catalogs. But here it was, my first dated collectable for the year 2011, arriving early January, unsolicited and by snail-mail at that.

The cover of this "The Greater Courses Magazine" titled Religion, features a full page image of Stonehenge including the caption "Exploring the Roots of Religion p.16". I immediately flipped it open to page 16 only to find a two page spread titled "A Closer Look: Teotihuacan" with no reference to either Stonehenge or Religion. Flipping back to the table of contents revealed that "Exploring the Roots of Religion" was to be found on page 12 and not p.16 as indicated on the cover. Turning to page 12 revealed a spark of hope, Stonehenge was the first highlighted word (with a big S)used in the story but.... The name Stonehenge did not appear again until page 14 where it is included along with a short description as an entry in a bulleted list. Also included in that list was Lascaux Cave, Machu Picchu, and Easter Island the other sites investigated in this course. The final reference, "Cosmic Hub at Stonehenge" is listed on page 15 as lecture number 26 in the series with no additional information provided. I was surprised there was no images of Stonehenge other than the teaser on the cover.

@ST0NEHENGE tweeted a few days ago "More than nine hundred stone rings exist in the British Isles. Stonehenge is unique- why?" I repeat my answer here for the record "Because it's the most commercialized!" and here is a prime example that even in 2011 Stonehenge Sells.
