About the Hupe Planetary Collection Card Set: These cards were produced in an effort to present an inexpensive way for collectors to add real material from either the Moon or the planet Mars to their collections. The Moon or Mars is portrayed setting behind Stonehenge rendered by a professional artist and printed on heavy glossy paper stock. Stonehenge was selected as an icon because it is a well-known ancient observatory where both the Lunar and Maritain cycles were witnessed among other celestial bodies. A metered sample is placed in the viewing window and then sealed with an optically correct lamination. 10 milligrams of actual sterile cutting dust left over after material preparation or fragments are encased in a viewing window except in the case of NWA 2737 (Card #8), a Chassignite in which only 2 to 4 milligrams is presented due to its extreme rarity. A Certificate of Authenticity and a serial number (1-50) reside of the reverse of this card. Only 50 of each card in this collection set will be produced using serial numbers (thus the parallel designation). Although this is designated as a parallel set, no plans are in the works to produce mass quantities of another version without serial numbers since the planetary material is very limited and there is no automated way of producing them. |
