Night of the Demon 1957

Night of the Demon a 1957 chiller feature Stonehenge prominently in both an extended introduction and again about 50 minutes in to the 95 minute movie, when our hero finds a clue etched in a stone at Stonehenge.

This DVD has both the original 95 minute uncut 1957 British release of "Night of the Demon" along with the 82 minute 1958 Hollywood release re-titled "Curse of the Demon".

The lead in title and credits of the two releases provide an interesting comparison. "Columbia Pictures Corporation presents A Saber Film Production with Dana Andrews and Peggy Cummins in Night of the Deamon" became "Columbia Pictures Corporation presents Dana Andrews" in Curse of the Demon. Hollywood dropping all reference to it being a Saber Film Production and reducing Peggy Cummins to an "Also Staring" credit following the title screen. Niall MacGinnis the former "Also Staring" in NightOf now shares a "WITH" credit with Maurice Denham, Athene Seyler, and Liam Redmond. Richard Leech and Reginald Beckwith were dropped from the "WITH" list and lost their front screen credits in the CurseOf re-release.
Night of the Demon was produced by Frank Bevis crediting Hal E. Chester as Executive Producer. It turns out Bevis's Buthead Exec Hal E. Chester took sole credit as Producer of Curse of the Demon giving Frank Bevis no credit at all.

The trailing credits at the end of the movie were unchanged with a single exception. Completely omitting the "Produced at A.B.P.C Studios, Elstree. England" credit at the very end, also looked to be a Buthead move.
