1943 Troops at Stonehenge Punch Cartoon

This Stonehenge Punch cartoon was published Jan 27 1943 in the PUNCH or The London Charivari. It is a nice addition to the The Punch take on Stonehenge gallery.

The image shows a column of Romans marching away from Stonehenge.
The text reads: "They might have found us a more comfortable billet --- I've got a sore throat"

The publish date of January 1943 leaves little question that it reflects the grumbling of the allied troops amassing in on the Salisbury Plain near Stonehenge in preparation for joining the war in Europe.
