c1860 Stonehenge, Newton & Co. Makers 

These hand colored Stonehenge Magic lantern slides was produced by Newton & Co. 3 Fleet St. London. One was purchased from a seller in the United Kingdom, while the other was sourced by a dealer in South Eastern, ACT, Australia. Both are hand colored and show the state of the stones in the mid to late 1800s.
Newton and Co. operated from the early 1850s until the late 1880s at the Fleet Street location.
They held the title "Opticians and Globe Makers to the Queen" and were awarded prizes at the London exhibitions of 1851, 1862 and 1865, as well as other awards received in Paris, India and Brazil.
